Professional Background and Accomplishments

Mr. Rasmussen is an experienced attorney with a practice focused primarily on general liability, toxic tort, and environmental litigation matters.  Mr. Rasmussen is a seasoned attorney in all phases of litigation, including pre-litigation, discovery, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, trial, and appeals.

Mr. Rasmussen handles high exposure personal injury and property matters as well as a wide range of general liability disputes.  In addition, Mr. Rasmussen litigates and resolves complex, multi-party toxic tort and environmental matters.  

Mr. Rasmussen’s toxic tort practice includes defense of claims of occupational exposure, environmental exposure, and exposure in the home to dangerous toxic substances.  He has handled matters involving alleged exposure to benzene, asbestos, dioxins, pesticides, silica, lead paint, mold, formaldehyde, mercury VOC’s, PCB’s, hexavalent chromium, and numerous other toxins.  

Mr. Rasmussen has handled matters wherein allegedly toxic substances supposedly caused Leukemia, Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, Aplastic Anemia, Bronchiolitis Obliterans, Interstitial Lung Disease, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Pneumoconiosis, Silicosis, Asbestosis, Mesothelioma, and numerous other diseases and conditions.

Mr. Rasmussen’s environmental practice includes defending both private and public entities in high-stakes cost recovery and enforcement matters, especially those brought under CERCLA, HSAA, and RCRA.  Mr. Rasmussen has represented clients in matters involving Superfund sites, manufacturing facilities, commercial developments, dry cleaner sites, chemical distribution and recycling centers, industrial ports, and landfills.  In addition, Mr. Rasmussen has prosecuted CERCLA, HSAA, RCRA and common law claims through litigation and mediation to obtain reimbursement for past environmental cleanup costs and allocation of future liability.
